About This Activity

Set out on an unforgettable private day trip from Marrakech to explore two of Morocco's most renowned destinations: Ouarzazate and Ait Benhaddou. This exclusive tour takes you through the picturesque Atlas Mountains, where you'll uncover ancient kasbahs, visit world-famous film studios, and marvel at UNESCO World Heritage landmarks—all with stunning views and personalized service.

Your journey begins with a convenient pick-up from your Marrakech hotel. Travel in comfort aboard a private, air-conditioned vehicle as you wind through the scenic landscapes of the Atlas Mountains. Along the way, you’ll pass charming Berber villages, lush olive groves, and dramatic mountain scenery, offering plenty of chances to stop for photos.

Your first destination is the UNESCO-listed Ait Benhaddou, one of Morocco’s most iconic kasbahs. This ancient, mudbrick village has served as the backdrop for numerous Hollywood blockbusters, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones. As you wander the kasbah’s narrow alleys, your guide will share its rich history and cultural significance, highlighting its role in Morocco’s heritage and film industry.

A memorable part of your visit will be climbing to the hilltop overlooking the kasbah. From there, you'll enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding desert landscapes and lush palm groves—a perfect spot to capture breathtaking photos of the unique architecture and scenery.

Next, your adventure continues to Ouarzazate, affectionately called the “Hollywood of Africa.” This vibrant city is home to the renowned Atlas Film Studios, one of the largest in the world. Explore the fascinating movie sets, including replicas of ancient temples and desert scenes, and learn how Morocco’s striking desert landscapes have become the backdrop for many legendary films, such as The Mummy, Babel, and Prince of Persia.

For history enthusiasts, a visit to the Taourirt Kasbah offers a deeper look into Morocco’s architectural and cultural legacy. Once the residence of the powerful Glaoui family, this kasbah is an impressive example of traditional Moroccan design, featuring intricate carvings, grand courtyards, and beautiful structures that transport you back in time.

Throughout the day, you’ll be treated to the breathtaking landscapes of the Atlas Mountains and the surrounding desert. A delicious Moroccan lunch awaits at a local restaurant, where you’ll savor authentic dishes like tagine, couscous, and fresh mint tea. This relaxing break offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy Moroccan flavors while taking in the serene views.

After your enriching exploration of Ouarzazate and Ait Benhaddou, you’ll begin the scenic drive back to Marrakech. The return journey offers one last chance to admire the dramatic landscapes of valleys and mountains before reaching the bustling city. You’ll arrive at your hotel in the evening, carrying cherished memories of an extraordinary day discovering Morocco’s cinematic history and breathtaking scenery.

We had an amazing day with our driver and guide, Mohamed. He drove safely yet comfortably, which was really appreciated, especially since the distances are quite long! Both villages were a lot of fun, with Ait Ben Haddou standing out, where a local guide gave us a tour.

We absolutely loved visiting Ait Benhaddou. Our guides were by far the best we’ve had during our trip to Morocco. They were caring, kind, and incredibly informative. Our driver, Said, was fantastic, and we highly recommend him. The guide at Ait Benhaddou was very knowledgeable, funny, and spoke excellent English. He provided us with so many fascinating insights into life there. The destination itself is stunning, and we learned a lot of interesting history. Both men were wonderful with my two daughters and showed great care. Highly recommended!
