About This Activity

If you want more than just sightseeing—if you want to understand Prague and its place in European history—this tour is perfect for you. You'll see the city through a unique lens that connects local stories with broader cultural and historical themes.
The itinerary starts at Prague Castle with an overview of its 1,000-year history. We explore the exterior sights and the iconic view of Malá Strana roofs, and optionally continue to Hradčany — a hidden gem frozen in time, where we recall Prague of Rudolf II. Descending through Malá Strana, we touch on the Hussite wars, Charles IV, and the Thirty Years' War, with St Nicholas Church and Wallenstein Palace along the way. Then Charles Bridge — 300 meters packed with stories and views. In the Old Town and Jewish Quarter: the Old-New Synagogue, Neorenaissance architecture, the Astronomical Clock, Estates Theater, Charles University. Optionally, the Black Madonna House and Municipal House before reaching Wenceslas Square, the center of modern Prague.
The tour runs in small groups, not more than 8 people. There is always a chance that it will be private, and for groups of 6+ it is. Pace and itinerary are adjusted for you. If the group is in the mood to walk more and see more, it can be up to 8 kilometers. Or we can leave out some segments and concentrate on hilltop views, conversations or make a coffee stop. I do not have a scripted scenario, but a hat full of stories and broad overview of European history and Prague's place in it. And the thing I enjoy and invite everyone to participate is live conversation, which sheds unexpected light on worn-out things.
The duration is 4 hours. This is a fully outdoor walking experience; interiors are not included unless access is free and adds value to the tour. If you have special wishes on timing or itinerary or anything, message me. The tour is comprehensive introduction to the "tourist map" of Prague, culture and history.
