About This Activity

This guided tour offers a unique and meaningful way to experience Kibera, one of Africa's largest informal settlements. It moves beyond typical sightseeing by focusing on engagement and impact at a local preschool or daycare center .

You will be welcomed into a community-run school, a beacon of hope for vulnerable children. Under the guidance of local staff, you'll have the opportunity to volunteer in the classroom, assisting teachers, playing with the children, and participating in daily activities . The experience is led by a local guide, often a social entrepreneur, who provides invaluable context about life in Kibera, its challenges, and the incredible resilience of its people . A significant portion of your tour fee directly supports the school, funding meals, educational supplies, and the children's sponsorship .

Activity Description.

You will be picked from your hotel and meet our guide at Designated Point and group at a pre-arranged, safe location, often the Greenhouse Mall on Ngong Road, for a short orientation and briefing .

Arrival at Preschool Walk to the partner school. Receive a warm welcome from the teachers and children and learn about the school's mission .

Volunteer Session. Engage directly with the children. Activities may include helping in the classroom, playing games, doing arts and crafts, or assisting with the feeding program .

Guided Walk & Community Visit. Say goodbye to the children and embark on a guided walk through Kibera. Visit key sites such as Toi Market, a local home, a recycling workshop, or a women's empowerment group .
