Its believed that Kibera slum is the biggest slum in Africa. While people in Kibera live in unspeakable poverty, they have an unwavering sense of community and care for others. This tour will make a great impact by funding a child education ,women empowerment among the vulnerable and women in the slum. Every donation makes a huge difference in the assurance of affordable education and nutrition. Explore Kibera and learn about the resilience and ingenuity of the Kibera residents.

This tour enables our guests to learn more about the local community's way of life and the history of Kibera slum. The income generated from the booking fees, goes back to the community and helps in running the community based projects. 

THE ITINERARY FOR THIS EXPERIENCE

This tour takes 3 hours, but we can make it longer or shorter depending on your interests.Below are the tour stops:

1.SLUM HOME VISIT.

The third stop which is the main stop is home Visit where we will welcome you inside one of the residential houses here in the slum to let you learn more about our way of life like how we get water, electricity, bathroom system, typical house size and so on.

2.Kibera Handicrafts Centre.

You will witness how locals recycle and upcycle materials to make jewelry and other handmade items.Explore a variety of handmade African crafts and souvenirs—offered at fair, regular, transparent, and fixed prices. Every item is clearly marked with a price tag. No bargaining, no inflated prices—just honest value.

3. Slum Children's home.

You will be guided through a slum orphanage rescuing vulnerable kids from the streets of Nairobi and the slum.Get to see the impacts of the orphanages on the lifes of the kids as they transform them for better future.

4.Slum Tour.

You will have a guided slum walking tour to learn on the history, culture and resilience from the slum dwellers. Participate in community based projects and other empowerment programmes in the slum. Later,get dropped back to your hotel.
