About This Activity

Experience the wonders of ancient Egypt with a full-day tour from Hurghada to Cairo, led by a knowledgeable Egyptologist. This immersive journey allows you to discover Egypt's most iconic landmarks, offering you a chance to marvel at the ancient Pyramids of Giza, the enigmatic Sphinx, the impressive step pyramids of Sakkara, and the fascinating history housed in the Egyptian Museum.

Your adventure begins early in the morning with a convenient hotel pickup in Hurghada. You will then be transferred to the Hurghada airport, where you will board a short domestic flight to Cairo. Once in Cairo, your Egyptologist guide will be waiting for you to begin this exciting day of exploration.

The first stop on your journey is the Pyramids of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. These magnificent structures have stood for thousands of years and are a testament to the incredible engineering skills of the ancient Egyptians. The guide will share fascinating insights into the history and construction of the pyramids, giving you a deeper understanding of their significance. You will also have the opportunity to take pictures with the pyramids in the background and get close to the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the largest and most impressive of the three pyramids.

Next, you’ll visit the Sphinx, the mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a Pharaoh. This iconic statue has captivated visitors for centuries and is an integral part of the Giza Plateau. Your guide will explain the history and mystery surrounding the Sphinx, including theories about its construction and the riddle it poses.

After exploring Giza, you’ll continue your journey to Sakkara, home to the world’s oldest pyramid, the Step Pyramid of Djoser. This structure, designed by the architect Imhotep, marked a significant advancement in pyramid construction. The Step Pyramid was the precursor to the smooth-sided pyramids of Giza. Sakkara is not just a single pyramid, but a vast necropolis with numerous tombs and structures. As you walk through this ancient burial site, your Egyptologist will provide fascinating commentary on the evolution of Egyptian architecture and burial practices.

After your visit to Sakkara, you’ll enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant in Cairo. The meal will give you the chance to sample traditional Egyptian dishes, providing a delicious break before continuing your adventure.

The next stop on your tour is Memphis, the capital of ancient Egypt during the Old Kingdom. Memphis is a significant archaeological site, home to numerous statues and relics from Egypt’s early history. One of the highlights of the Memphis visit is the colossal statue of Ramses II, one of Egypt's most powerful and famous pharaohs. You’ll also explore the open-air museum and admire the relics of this once-great city.

After Memphis, you’ll head to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, which houses one of the most extensive collections of ancient Egyptian artifacts in the world. The museum’s treasures include everything from statues and paintings to jewelry and mummies. Your Egyptologist guide will take you through the museum’s highlights, including the famous treasures of King Tutankhamun, whose tomb was discovered in the Valley of the Kings in the 1920s. The museum’s exhibits provide a fascinating look into the life and death of the pharaohs, and you’ll have the chance to see some of the most valuable and well-preserved artifacts in Egyptian history.

Once you’ve explored the museum, you’ll have time to visit the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar, a bustling market in the heart of Cairo. The bazaar is an excellent place to shop for unique souvenirs, such as traditional crafts, spices, jewelry, and textiles. Take a stroll through the narrow alleyways, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of one of Cairo’s oldest and most famous markets. You’ll have free time to browse and haggle with the friendly shopkeepers, allowing you to experience the local culture and pick up a memento from your trip.

As the day draws to a close, you will be transferred back to the Cairo airport for your return flight to Hurghada. Once you arrive in Hurghada, a comfortable transfer will take you back to your hotel, where you can relax and reflect on an unforgettable day of exploration.

I want to give a huge thank you to Wahip and Amir. Without both of you, this day wouldn’t have been nearly as memorable. You two turned it into something truly unforgettable. Wahip, we decided to stray from the original plan based on your suggestion, and it ended up being the best decision we could have made. You are worth far more than anything displayed in a museum, and the impact you left was stronger than ever before. Thank you again, it was an incredible experience, even better than the mask!

The highlight of the trip for me was the visit to the pyramids. However, the stop at the papyrus and perfume factory didn’t feel essential. It would have been better to explore the souk instead. Since our flight was delayed, our guide Rime kindly offered to take us to a bazaar.
