About This Activity

Experience the magic of life in the Sahara Desert on a small group tour to the stunning dunes of Erg Chebbi. Ride a camel across the golden sands, enjoy a mesmerizing desert sunset, and traverse the winding roads of the Middle Atlas Mountains. This two-day adventure is a perfect blend of natural beauty, cultural encounters, and unforgettable memories.

Day 1: Fes - Ifrane - Midelt - Merzouga
Depart from Fes, passing through the picturesque winter resort of Ifrane, built by the French in the 1930s to resemble a Swiss village. Continue through the cedar forests of Azrou, where you may encounter the region’s famous monkeys. Journey onward through the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you’ll be surrounded by verdant forests, sparkling mountain springs, dramatic rock formations, and traditional Berber villages.

Stop for lunch in Midelt, a town renowned for its fossils and geological treasures. Then, drive along the panoramic route, passing the lush oasis of palm trees at Ziz. Arrive in Rissani and board a 4WD vehicle to continue your desert journey. Reach Merzouga in the afternoon, where your guide will welcome you with camels to take you on a one-hour trek across the dunes of Erg Chebbi.

Watch the sunset from your camel’s back, then arrive at the Berber camp to a warm welcome of mint tea. Enjoy a traditional desert dinner and relax beneath the vast, starlit sky. Choose from shared, private standard, or private luxury tents for an unforgettable overnight stay.

Day 2: Merzouga - Tafilalte - Fes
Wake early to witness the breathtaking sunrise from the dunes, just 50 kilometers from the Algerian border. Afterward, take time to refresh with a shower and enjoy a delicious breakfast. Begin your return journey to Fes, with comfort stops along the way, ensuring a relaxed and scenic 7-hour drive.

This 2-day adventure offers the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and beauty of Morocco’s desert landscapes.

Great tour! The camel ride was long and included nice photo stops. The camp was comfortable and food was good. The only downside was the return trip to Fes and Marrakech, it seemed poorly organized, and we left an hour late.

A very enjoyable introduction to the desert. The two-day trip was a bit long, so next time we would consider doing three or four days.
