About This Activity

Embark on a relaxing and informative tour through two of Turkey’s most iconic ancient sites: Ephesus and the Temple of Artemis. Designed for those who wish to experience the grandeur of these ancient wonders without extensive walking, this drive-by tour offers a comfortable way to explore the rich history of the region. With an expert guide to provide insightful commentary along the way, you’ll uncover the secrets of the past while enjoying the comfort of air-conditioned transportation.

Your adventure begins with a convenient pick-up from your hotel or cruise port. After a short drive, you’ll arrive at Ephesus, once one of the most important cities of the ancient world. From the comfort of your vehicle, you’ll enjoy spectacular views of the city’s highlights, including the Ephesus Theatre, the Odeon, and the Gate of Hercules. Your guide will share fascinating historical facts about these grand structures, explaining their significance in Roman and early Christian history. The Ephesus Theatre, where the Apostle Paul once preached, and the Odeon, an ancient concert hall, are just a few of the awe-inspiring landmarks you’ll view from a distance.

Next, the tour will take you to the Basilica of St. John, built in honor of the apostle who spread Christianity throughout the region. From here, you’ll also enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and the nearby ruins of Selcuk. This stop provides a unique opportunity to learn about the spread of Christianity in Asia Minor and the significant role the basilica played in the early Christian period.

Continuing your journey, you’ll head to the Isa Bey Mosque, an architectural masterpiece from the Seljuk era. Built in the 14th century, this mosque is one of the best-preserved examples of Turkish Islamic architecture in the region. It offers a serene atmosphere where you can admire the intricate tile work and majestic courtyard while learning about its cultural and religious significance.

The highlight of your tour is the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Though only a few ruins remain, the grandeur of this temple is still evident. Your guide will take you through its history, explaining its religious importance in ancient times and its status as one of the largest temples ever built. From here, you can also capture stunning photos of the surrounding area, including views of the old Selcuk houses and the Isa Bey Mosque.

In addition to these historical landmarks, the tour includes visits to local craft workshops, where you can observe traditional Turkish artistry. You’ll visit a pottery workshop, where you’ll learn about the ancient art of ceramic making that has been practiced in the region for thousands of years. For those interested in the rich cultural heritage of Turkish textiles, you’ll also visit a carpet weaving demonstration, where you can see firsthand how intricate Turkish carpets are made, each telling a story through its patterns and designs.

Throughout the tour, you’ll enjoy the convenience of being driven from one site to the next, with plenty of photo opportunities at each stop. This leisurely pace ensures that you can take in the historical and cultural significance of each site without feeling rushed. Whether you’re traveling with family, friends, or as part of a small group, this tour offers the perfect blend of sightseeing and comfort.

The experience was excellent. Both the guide and the driver were great. The guide had a strong understanding of Türkiye’s history and culture, and the driver made us feel safe throughout the trip. The guide’s English was spot on. We were travelling with women and children and felt well cared for the entire time. They were relaxed, friendly, and fun to be around. I’d definitely recommend them.
