About This Activity

Embark on a private two day exploration of Cappadocia’s most iconic historical and natural sites, beginning with the majestic Derinkuyu Underground City. As the largest excavated subterranean settlement in Turkey, it once sheltered up to 20,000 people across multiple levels of carved chambers, ventilation shafts and religious halls, an architectural marvel hidden beneath the earth.

After your descent, enjoy a peaceful lunch in the lush Ihlara Valley, where a scenic riverside trek reveals over sixty Byzantine‑era cave churches adorned with vivid frescoes. You’ll wander through green cliffs and ancient chapels while learning about Cappadocia’s early Christian heritage.

On your second day, ascend to vantage points like Pigeon Valley, then marvel at the dramatic Selime Monastery, perched high above the canyon with sweeping views of the volcanic lunar scenery. The journey concludes with a visit to a local souvenir shop, where artisans display genuine jewelry and stone crafts perfect for keepsakes.

Throughout this experience, you’ll enjoy private transport, hotel pickup and drop‑off, and the personalized insight of an expert guide fluent in English. Customized to suit your interests, this immersive itinerary blends culture, nature, and history into an unforgettable Cappadocian adventure.

Traveling solo, I wanted a guided experience where I could really learn about Cappadocia, and this was perfect. The underground city was fascinating, especially hearing how people used it for safety centuries ago. I enjoyed the Ihlara Valley walk, where my guide pointed out details in the frescoes I never would have noticed on my own. Day two was equally impressive with wide landscapes and Selime Monastery towering over the valley. I appreciated that the schedule was flexible so I could take extra time for photos without feeling rushed.

This two-day trip was exactly what I wanted – something deeper than a quick sightseeing stop. I loved that I could really explore at my own pace, without a big group. The underground city felt mysterious, while the Ihlara Valley was a calming contrast with greenery and running water. The second day gave me some of the best photos of my whole trip, especially from the top of Selime Monastery. I also appreciated the private transport – it made everything stress-free and let me just focus on the experience.

I joined this tour with two friends, and it ended up being one of our favorite experiences together. We loved how the days balanced history with nature – first the underground city and churches, then the greenery and river in Ihlara. The monastery on the second day was a highlight, with views that looked like something out of a movie. Having a private guide meant we could ask lots of questions and go at our own pace. The little souvenir stop at the end was also fun, and we picked up handmade jewelry to remember the trip.

We traveled with teenagers, and I wasn’t sure how interested they’d be, but this tour kept them engaged from beginning to end. They were amazed by the underground tunnels and spent ages asking our guide about how people managed to live down there. The hike in Ihlara Valley gave us a chance to relax in nature, and the small churches were fascinating even to the kids. On the second day, Selime Monastery completely impressed them with its size and views. It was the right balance of education, activity, and comfort for a family trip.
